 Mushrooming domestic T20 leagues are these days getting highly popular and so are the associated threats with it. It is such that they are emerging as the obstacles for the other ODIs and Test matches.

In fact, the cricket administrators are trying hard on finding a way towards making these Test and ODI leagues workable and rightly included in the new international calendar.
Moreover, it has proved to be pretty more than just a logistical issue.

The problem seems to have overgrown and is getting deep into wider debate with its relevance to the international game.

The ICC general manager for cricket Geoff Allardice has proposed one of the solutions for resolving this scheduled conflict by scheduling lesser Test matches.

There has been a joint meeting of the Chief executives of Full Member boards for discussing a Future Tours Programme (FTP) model to be produced in the month of March, but this is still appearing unviable.

This proposed FTP is resulted from the scheduling summit that has been built on the plans to introduce a 12-team Test league to be played over the tenure of two years, and a 13-team ODI league played over three.Those plans were already approved during the ICC meetings that were held in the month of February.

“The windows for domestic T20 leagues (other than IPL) are relatively new, and have contributed to there being insufficient time available,” Allardice wrote.

Further in the note Allardice gave a note as an assessment of these schedules as seen by the ESPN cricinfo as, “In particular, a 6-week block for the new CSA T20 league, and an 8-week block for the expanding PSL, has made the scheduling of international competitions more difficult.

These windows have been positioned at a time when the majority of Members are looking to host their international cricket during the October to March period.

But ICC management has identified a number of issues with the calendar and has told Members that, as it stands, the schedule means the new structures will not be approved by the ICC Board. The schedule will need to be substantially revised by Members if these Test and ODI competitions are to be introduced.”
